• Images are created for family purchase only

• Direct photographer oversight of files and delivery. All images are handled completely in-house and directly uploaded to our secure gallery system

About Me.
Hi, I’m Melissa Milano — a local photographer and mom of two, with over 20 years behind the camera.
Earlier in my career, I spent 8 years specializing in preschool picture days, and since 2022 I’ve been focused on growing my portrait studio right in Hackettstown. Along the way, I realized how much I missed working with preschools — the energy, the pace, and the joy that comes with photographing children and their personalities as they are right now.
Young children are truly my comfort zone. I work patiently, keep things relaxed, and know how to connect with them quickly so picture day feels smooth and positive instead of rushed or stressful.
I’m now partnering with a limited number of schools each year, bringing both my preschool experience and my studio-level quality and organization to picture day. I personally photograph every child and support families directly from start to finish.
Preschoolers need time and patience — not pressure.
My approach is designed specifically for early childhood:
• Gentle pacing; quick enough to keep their attention, slow enough for them to feel comfortable.
• Expression-first photography, it’s possible to get a range of expressions within a gallery, all of which you will recognize as authentic and not forced.
• Fun, playful interaction. Children and parents alike adore how much fun we have, and I have some tricks up my sleeve for children who have “never” sat for pictures.
• Respect for shy, sensitive or special needs children. Every child deserves to be met where they’re at. Each child is treated as an individual and respected, even if it’s a “no”
• Multiple expressions captured when possible
• Efficient flow without rushing kids
